A Voice for Justice,
A Catalyst for Change
Vandana Aparanti is a dedicated anti-caste activist, feminist, and advocate for oppressed caste women’s rights. With a deep commitment to social justice, she has spent years fighting against caste and gender-based discrimination, empowering individuals, and amplifying marginalized voices.
Justice begins with a voice. Empowerment begins with a choice. No survivor should walk alone—together, we break the silence and build a future of dignity, safety, and strength.”

As the co-founder and chair of STOP Gender-Based Caste Oppression, Vandana leads one of the few organizations addressing caste discrimination in both India and the UK. She has been at the forefront of campaigns advocating for the inclusion of caste legislation in British law and continues to push for policy changes that protect vulnerable communities.

Beyond activism, Vandana serves as a Domestic Violence Caseworker at the Asian Women’s Resource Centre in London, providing critical support to women facing domestic abuse. Her work includes offering legal guidance, emotional support, and pathways to independence for survivors.

Her dedication to community welfare extends beyond caste and gender issues. As a trustee of the British Bangladesh Ear Society, she contributes to initiatives aimed at addressing hearing impairments within the British Bangladeshi community, further showcasing her commitment to social impact.

Vandana’s passion for justice is deeply rooted in her family’s legacy. Her son, Saunvedan Aparanti, made history as the first Ambedkarite Buddhist barrister in the UK, graduating from Gray’s Inn—99 years after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Her journey is one of resilience, advocacy, and unwavering determination. Whether through protests, legal advocacy, or direct community support, Vandana remains steadfast in her mission to challenge oppression and create lasting change.
